This version of Panda’s suit contains everything the Firewall+Antivirus version does but also adds content blocking. Content blocking is an important part of managing children’s and teens internet use.
Panda’s version of content blocking is very simple. Simply create a ‘user’ profile and password for your children then select a template (teen, kids, employee, etc). Each template has a specific set of content types that are blocked. An advanced screen allows you to modify the default blocked categories. You may also add sites to a ‘white list’ and sites to a ‘black list’ individually. Each of these are easy to set up.
This simplicity comes at a price however. There are ‘no time management’ to keep your kids surfing only a couple hours a day or only in the evening. There are no IM filters, no word filters, no file sharing software filters and no software installation filters.
Reports are simple and easy to read. As a parent, you can see any attempted rule violations. These violations are time stamped, contain the URL that was attempted and shows what category the URL was blocked under.
This software is an appropriate control over a computer in a common area of the house, but there are not enough restrictions or control measures for unsupervised surfing.
