Re: 2 xp machines still not working **SOLUTION**

When your home networked computers (in Windows XP), can use the Internet, can see each other in the network, but they cannot access each other's files, then there are three things to check:
1) Is your software firewall configured so the computers in your home network are "trusted"? The set of IP addresses a$$igned to your networked computers should be configured in each computer's firewall so communication is allowed.
2) Is the "Guest" account turned on in each computer? This is necessary. Control Panel - User Accounts - Guest Account. (://support.microsoft.com/kb/281248/en-us)
3) There is a setting in the Windows Registry that may need to be changed:
..a. Open the Windows Registry: Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
..b. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
..c. In the right pane, double-click "restrictanonymous".
..d. Make sure that the value in the Value data box is set to 0 (zero), and then click OK.
..e. Close Registry Editor.
..f. Restart the computer.
Do this for each Win XP computer on your home network. (://support.microsoft.com/kb/913628/en-us)

Re: File + Print sharing on XP
Thanks to the generous person who made this site and thanks also to Jeff who nailed my problem after I followed the instructions here. I found that Zone Alarm was blocking my access. Now I just need to figure out where in Zone Alarm I can create the access I need. Thanks again!
