Port list for running a server through a router

Below is a list of ports used for many applications and games.  This is a list of the most common configurations needed to use the applications from behind a NAT based sharing device like a CALE/DSL Router Firewall or Microsft ICS.  As you can see, most applications work fine without configuration when making an outgoing connection.  All applications need some kind of port forwarding when you need to act as a server to take incomming connections.
This is a GENERAL guideline.  The only way to tell if a particular application will work with your router is to test it.

Please Please write me if you can add to this list or correct it. sorry-no-more-spam-please.  If you need more help than what is provided here, take it to the Message Forums, don't write me directly.

HTTP in NATed environments
if you do not control your NAT, for example in the University or just do not want to change settings in the NAT/firewall try public reversed proxy ://www.gomyplace.com

Open Source project (GPL) allows remote access to the NATed system with just a regular browser (can be PDA, cell phone, etc.) HTTP server can be NATed and firewalled. all URLs will be static and can be posted on messaged boards or sent with e-mail
